Since its 2012 debut, Isa Tapia has been a brand to watch for its eye-catching, whimsical, and hyper feminine shoes that strut the line between novelty and norm. Taking inspiration from her near and far travels, personal interests, and the women in her life, Tapia's collections are awakening stories of beauty in the unexpected. "My mother wears skinny jeans, red lipstick, and dances the night away at 62," says Tapia. "What's more inspiring than that?!"
Uninterested in the fickle trends of today or tomorrow, each collection begins with Tapia taking a classic silhouette such as her iconic kitten heel and livening it with aesthetic signatures like color, cut-outs, and artful accents. "Perfect is boring," says Tapia. "I like when things are odd, even a little off." Hands embroidered bird booties, heart cut-out lace-up heels, and brightly polka dot studded flats echoing the 50s are all true testaments to Tapia's meticulously bold approach.
Tapia knows the importance of designing wearable pieces as much as shoes with personality, but that's merely where she starts. If you're going to wear a flat, why not wear one that's visible from space? Or better yet, covered in moon's?! "We take ourselves way too seriously," says Tapia. "My shoes are a reminder to screw the rules and have fun."
